Hi guys,

I'm in the market for a SWB to build myself a R-Replica.

So yesterday I inspected a car in the Stuttgart area close to the Porsche factory. Seller is a 65 year old man who owns the car for more than 10 years now. There is no history of the car known. Full German documents come with the car as well as new TÜV.

The car itself is a SWB with a 2.2T engine and a 915 tranny. But the VIN (911 3 500 932) identifys the car as a 1973 Coupe 2.4 911T/V (can someone tell me for what the "V" is standing for). The first thing I thought was that someone cutted out the VIN number of a 1973 model and welded in place on the SWB model. But why should someone doing this? Also there are no weldings or manipulations around the VIN area visible. It's a clean and straight car and would make a good base to start from. But not sure if I should buy it, as it sounds pretty strange to have a SWB car built in 1973.

What are your opinions?
