removing case studs yes / no?

    Hi,

I recently bought a small spitgot 7R case in very good condition.
"only" problem is that it is vapour blasted so I am cleaning case(removing oil squirters and oil gallery plugs etc).
During the vapour blasting the studs lost there protective galvanizing layer and are / will be prone to rust.

    What is your expert opinon?

    1) Remove them and get them galvanized?
What is best procedure to remove them without damaging? What stud removing tool?
Are there complete sets for sale?

    2) leave them as removing will be troublesome?

    3) ....?

    Thanks,
    Bart

If you leave them I would paint with a high galvanized paint. I believe Eastwood has one for exhaust.

Removal from a mag. case is easy. I use two nuts locked together and a torch to heat the case at the back side of where the stud is.

If any of the studs sticks out of the case and suffers corrosion, it will tear up the threads in case when removing. When we did concourse rebuild I Would thread the stud in deeper and try to remove any corrosion off the end of the stud to lessen damage to threads before removing. This didn’t apply to studs in blind holes.
