    400MM Extended hub(factory) Steering Wheel

Plastic with very little patina. Some scuffs from sitting on a shelf for decades. Sold complete only. I may reduce the price slightly if you insist on not taking the horn button. Complete with the factory extended horn contact (actually a 70/71 914/4 part) and the spring and bushing. It is missing the aluminum plug for the horn cuff but will work just fine without it. I do believe that part is available on this site, though. The last one of these that I had was a factory leather wheel. It was made from a plastic wheel with a thin layer of cotton between the leather and the plastic wheel. Which leads me to believe this could be made the same way, if you wanted. $650.00 plus shipping and any fees.

How about $479.95. That will buy the fishing reel I've been looking at. I'd much rather have that fishing reel than this steering wheel.

    Jim,

Just a few years ago, I went over to that EASY copy-cat place in Hayward and picked out all the extended hub wheels they had; they didn't appear to know what they were. I bought them all and over time sold them.
Reminds of the time many years ago when I bought a pair of 356 Euro heat exchangers from you for my SC Sunroof. I later mentioned to Harry Pellow, aka, The Maestro that you had a few sets and next time I came back he had bought them All!
GLWS on the extended hub wheel ! Thanks.

You did get the best 2, before Harry bought the run of the mill stuff.
I can't imagine that those other guys had too many extended hub wheels. Probably had plenty of later extended hub wheels.

    Hi Jim,

I tried to pick the best. One snout was bent. I went over to Chuck Forge's and asked him what to do. He put it in a big vice he had and....yep..came back almost perfect !
I don't recall the date codes of the 400mm extended hubs I got over there. Maybe 2 or three. Yours looks good Interesting the extended part is hard rubber. I built up some extended hub wheels using Cornpanzers kit. It worked well but, yes, was heavier. . Thanks

I have a factory 420 mm factory steering wheel in my 912. This is so tempting!

A cool upgrade with the more sporty feel of a smaller 400mm wheel ! Thanks.

My 420MM steering is the factory extended wheel. Not sure what I was trying to type in my last response.

The hub is made from plastic, as all the others I have seen. I'm thinking of sending to your "secret" place for a cotton pad and leather wrap. I'd much rather sell it, though. $400.00 plus shipping. Fully expecting this thread to get locked just like the other Jim's often do.
