'. . . This 1973 Porsche 911S Targa was built in August 1972 and is powered by a numbers-matching 2.4-liter flat-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The car is finished in silver over a black interior and features a removable black Targa roof panel, an Alpine CD stereo with Bluetooth functionality, and Fuchs alloy wheels. The current owner acquired the car approximately seven years ago, and work has since included rebuilding the front brake calipers and refreshment of the engine with resurfaced cylinder heads and replacement timing chains, pistons, cylinders, exhaust valves, and more outlined below. This 911S Targa is now being offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with service records, a tool kit, a Porsche Classic Technical Certificate, and a clean California title in the name of the owner’s business.

The exterior came finished from the factory in Silver Metallic (936) and features a removable black roof panel along with US-spec impact bumpers. The seller notes that the decklid seal as well as various trim pieces and fender moldings have been replaced, while numerous hinges and latches were lubricated in 2019. Bubbling in the paint is reported around the bottom edge of the rear window.

The 15” Fuchs wheels have reportedly been reconditioned and are wrapped in Michelin Energy tires sized 205/60. A matching spare is found in the trunk, and stopping power is provided by power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. The front brake pads were replaced and the front calipers were rebuilt with replacement pistons, seals, and dust boots in 2013.

The cabin features seats trimmed in black leatherette with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. A push-button Blaupunkt AM/FM radio is mounted in the center of the dash, while an Alpine CD stereo with Bluetooth functionality is fitted underneath.

A four-spoke steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation that includes a central 8k-rpm tachometer, a 150-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, oil level, and oil temperature. The five-digit odometer shows just over 45k miles, approximately 6k of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 2.4-liter flat-six features mechanical fuel injection and was factory-rated at 190 horsepower. The engine was removed and the top-end rebuilt in 2013 by European Motorsports of Vista, California, and work included resurfacing the cylinder heads and replacing the pistons, cylinders, timing chains, guides, exhaust valves, and exhaust guides. The valve cover gaskets were replaced in 2019, and an oil change was also performed.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 915 five-speed manual transmission, and replacement shift rod and cup bushings were installed in 2013. An additional underbody image is available in the gallery below, along with receipts from the aforementioned work.

The Porsche Classic Technical Certificate was issued by Porsche South Bay of Hawthorne, California in 2020 and indicates a numbers-matching engine and transmission
