Early '69 Paint Tag Code Help

Cant find my original paint tag and am wondering what the correct code would be.Car is a factory black '69S Coupe built 12/68. I have kardex and it says 6838. However I want to know if it should be 6838-L or 6838-G or just 6838? I checked the registry's paint tag thread and couldn't find another example. Hopefully someone has an example for me or a reference guide I could take a look at.
    Thanks so much.

    Dave,
Anyway to know for sure? Not sure it really makes a difference but just wanted to try to be as accurate as possible. Car is a US delivery if that helps.
    Thanks,
    Frank

Not enough data to be certain, but this is as good as it gets.

    Maybe your Kardex could help?

'Farbe' on mine is listed as 838312 . . .
    https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...hmentid=272217

    . . . paint tag = 8383-H (Herberts)
    https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...hmentid=245762

Maybe the '12' on the Kardex = 'Herberts"?

Anything to indicate as much in your database, davep?

The code 838312 can be broken down to 8383 & 12. 8383 is broken down to body & roof both 83 metallic green as is normal for a coupe; I do not know of a two tone car, but the code did permit it. The 12 is the interior code for: Leatherette black; seat inlays Perlon corduroy.
The paint manufacturer code is never recorded in the records I have seen; one has to look at the badge for that.
The codes on the Kardex and the codes on the badge do not necessarily match. In 1968 & 1969 the Porsche code 6838 may have been used or the Lesonal code 95043 could have been used. It is my judgement call above that in this particular instance the badge I provided is most likely.

In 1970 & 1971 the 8383 code style was used on both the badge and the Kardex. From 1972 code 224 would have been used on the badge, but the record (and thus the CoA) would have continued to show 8383 for a coupe. People would look at the badge then look at the CoA and say WTF is this? And they had every right to be upset by the code clash.
