Kissimmee Prairie a few weeks ago... our dog's first encounter with something larger than a squirrel.

Thankfully in this part of Florida it's too cold for pythons so unlike the 'Glades, critters are everywhere... wild turkey in camp, and though we never saw any, hogs aplenty.

Looked like they had a rootin' party earlier that morning.

Animal with intelligence of people ? Possibly a killer whale, that doesn't appear to be in the whale family. Despite performing well, they don't seem to belong at Seaworld. If they show near S. Africa, apparently great whites leave the area. It's said some will swim on ahead of a shark, create upward turbulence beneath with tails, causing the prey to rise nearer to surface.. then come directly from underneath, and knock the unsuspecting shark over, freezing it. . .to then take out the liver, later found that way on the beach.

Deer, turkeys and red tail hawks are all fairly regular visitors to my place. This little guy is heard far more often than we see him.

Normal procedure in the country is to drive in the middle of the road. These 'roos are very very fast - ideally the driver looks into the distance on one side (right - over here ...) and passenger to the left.
In times of drought (e.g. 2 years ago especially) when the 'roos get desperate for water and move towards humans, the road gets absolutely littered with dead ones ... on a journey towards Mildura from Sydney to do a rally ... we saw over 200 dead ones ... no joke.
A couple of (stock - as they move far too quick to take) photos that may break a smile ... !
