Rennshift question after reading all the other threads

Most of the other threads were done some time ago. My client sent me one to install mated to a 901 transmission. Has anyone put a lot of miles on a 901 transmission with a Rennshift? The proper adjustment with a Stromski coupler at the output shaft is about the size of the tip of a pencil. Over time and wear if anything moves at all shifting will go from good to very poor immediately. How do these things hold up over time. That said I love my stock shifter in my 67. All my clients older cars have 915's. I much prefer 901's to 915's, but that's just personal taste.

Chris, I put a Rennshift in my 67 911 racecar with 901. Adjustment was finicky, and in the end I switched it out for a WeVo. However, the WeVo needed modification to add a stop to prevent overtravel so on a hard shift the shift rod wouldn’t slam the transmission. Rich

I have a Rennshift on my 901 gearbox since 2010 / 40k km. It took a bit of adjustment at the beginning but it made the box my very favorite transmission in any car!
    Keep up the speed!

Ha. I was going to say the same thing about my 901 with factory shifter. It took a bit of adjustment, but my favorite! I basically drove around for days with the panel open and a wrench. And I'd pull over and make an adjustment, one tiny spline at a time. But it truly made a difference. The shift pattern is now clear, firm, and all paths are straight and perpendicular. Through the adjustments, I definitely had times when the neutral path was not sharp and distinct, the neutral path was too short, and the forward/aft motion was angled.

I will say though that it's probably my favorite because of the dogleg. I also love m 915 box.

I have one in my 914. I just put the shifter and trans in 3rd gear, tightened the bolt and it was perfect. I have one ready for my 67 with a 915. I'll get a coupler from Stompski next time he drops by our shop. We have everything he makes.
