    thanks
    that is great information
however are you sure on the hill climb ratios originally in the gearbox? The 928 20xx boxes to my knowledge are all originally airport rations with the hill climb ones having serial numbers 928 10xx

Hugh is correct. 9282xxx would be Airport gears. + the type number matched, 9282xxx =901/52, 9284xxx =901/54.

Y'all are both correct, someone had handwritten "hillclimb" as a translation on my kardex file I have. Gearbox is "901/52" as well.

Chassis 11810620 has engine 380026, type 901/30 and is one of the 28 Group 2 Rally-Kit cars.

Unusually, it is listed as having been supplied with a standard 901/05 gearbox number 3282292, no longer with the car.

The car is beninning to undergo a full restoration, back to original spec and, for interest, when it was stripped down we found it had a 902/1 gearbox with 39/65 date stamp. However, the car had been sitting still for a very long time, and all of the details specified in the surrounding Rally-Kit literature were present and correct. This must have gone in early.

Competition Nadellas, ZF limited slip, straight through main shaft, lightweight flywheel, competition clutch etc...

Looking at the 4 combinations suggested by Porsche in the Sports Purpose document, this car's gear ratio set up matches none of them perfectly. For reference, what we have is AA, E, I, O, and V; which corresponds to the first three gears of the Hill Climb set, then what was used as 4th for Airfield/5th for Hillclimb and finally a taller gear that equates to 5th from the Nurburg Ring set.

More research is needed to understand the early history of this car, but we know that the US serviceman listed on the Kardex as the first owner, was not in Germany in May 1968 when this car is shown, on the Kardex, as having been built. No delivery date is shown. But the car had done 27k kms by 4/69 when it was attended to under warranty at Rittersbacher.

Other options include "Rallye Austrustung ohne Räder", 100L Tank, Sportkit 1 (loose), 840 Watt generator and a front stoneguard. Curiously the Kardex shows delivered with no wheels or tyres.

    Claudius,

Thanks for the additional information. I've added a summary to the end of Post #1 including these details for 11800208 along with the details on the sports purposes parts for the other cars where known. Two tables were generated. One for the S and L cars and the other for the TR cars.

    Thanks,
    Eric
