    Early fuel tank

I have pulled the tank from car and realize that it Has a fully round centre hump rather than the later angled hump. I show it next to the new replacement part which does not have this feature. Is this rare?Name: FF339031-E23A-42E9-B360-F8AA16BE94FC.jpg

The parts catalog shows only one part number, 901.201.010.21 up through '68. Starting in 1969 it gets much more complicated.

I suspect your car's "round hump" tank is common to all short wheelbase cars (certainly mine), that's several thousand 911s and 912s. I wouldn't call it rare in terms of finding a 911 or 912 with that tank.

It might prove very rare if you suddenly needed to replace a tank and went looking for one that wasn't in a car.

my theory is that they changed this in order to get the wider wheels more comfortable in and out.... later on they also added a flat surface to the reinforcement bracket under the front slam panel. btw also the breather tube has a wider diameter on your new dansk tank

Ah. The wider wheels change would make perfect sense for the tank modification! That must be it.
