    . . . On December 1st, 1969, Porsche sent the Italian importer the invoice for this S Targa. The vehicle was first registered a month later. Since production took place after the summer break in 1969, the vehicle can be assigned to the model year 1970. Last registered in Italy in 2006, it was imported to Germany in early 2007. In 2010 the Porsche was completely restored in Germany. The engine and transmission were also professionally overhauled. The Porsche 911 Targa was created as the result of stricter laws in the USA as the world's first mass-produced safety convertible. In the mid-sixties, Porsche engineers created a 911 variant between a convertible and a coupé. The Targa principle was invented. This Targa version with a sturdy, removable roof part quickly had its own customer base. The more powerful S-type (S for sport) was also available with the characteristic roll bar . . .'
