    Linkage question on 1968 2.0 911L

Working in the engine bay (again, new to 911's so I apologize if this is a silly question), and I noticed this linkage hanging in the rear of lower area of the carb. I know I am "de-smogged" and missing the airpump, etc.. and thought maybe this had something to do with that?

I am wondering how or what this linkage piece goes to?

    Thank you!

That is the linkage for the idle regulator.

    John,

Wow, thank you. Looks like I’m missing that whole system, including vacuum lines and the lot.

I would assume this also helps with cold starting?

    Thanks again,

    Dallas

No , emissions related , the engine returns to idle slower when the throttle is released .

Got it - thanks Richy. I think I am ok with leaving this off for now. I am not sure I like the idea of this device - and to me sounds like the Germans having to design something to comply with silly emissions regulations of the time. . .as if my dads 440cu in Challenger at the time didn't consume and spit out more toxicity? I digress....

    Thank you for the clarification.
