    Radio help

    Hi

I have a 1971 and I can’t figure out the radio speaker plugs. My rear radio looks like the picture below. One of the holes has a clear plastic surround to it. I have a 2 round prong plug. But only one prong will fit into the hole. The other hole is too small. Are there plugs with different size prongs?

What is the radio? That does not look like a period Blaupunkt.

I've never seen a plastic "surround" like that. Can it be removed?

First, that is a European radio; was your car a Euro delivery car? Second, while I am no expert, from the model and serial numbers, I believe that radio is probably from 1969; are you sure it is original to your car? Third, the plastic 'surround' around each of the two speaker plug receptacles is normal, meant to insulate the speaker plug from inadvertently grounding. However, I still don't understand the back of your radio; normally, the two speaker plug receptacles are both the same size and are oriented vertically with respect to each other, usually along the left rear edge.

Just looked at two B series euro Frankfurts I have on the shelf and both look like the OP's with the same speaker plug orientation and a plastic surround only at the top speaker hole. Funny, I'd never noticed it before.

You also might want to look for this to attach the speaker
