Uli and Recarno, the 'Seat Gurus' are right again...as usual. Below are the underside photos of the seat the Seller sent me which confirms Uli and Recarno's suspicion. Thanks for your expert observation and education guys!

Did not know that he did that - I saw them listed at $3000, I told him I would take them for $3000, he said if I wanted them it would be $3500 shipped. I said I can ship them on my UPS account for around $100. He agreed, but I'm glad I didn't follow through with it.

Yes, I still have his message in my inbox... I'm just glad that the experts UAI and Recarno kindly chimed in right on time and quickly identified they are fake...Cheers Mate. Next time I wil post, 'If they are real after UAI or Recarno has scrutinized them, I will take them'!

in general, to repros: taking off the fiberglass form of a rallye1 is not particularly difficult and then you probably have a 1: 1 copy of the form. To recreate the recaro gelcoat is much more difficult, maybe even impossible. as repros are usually inexpensive to manufacture, a first indicator for identification is the back of the seat, which is usually painted gloss black. however, the back of original recaros is often (unprofessionally) painted. the front of a repro shows the shape of the upholstery and the letherette / cord. A specialist quickly sees that this is not an original Recaro with repros - but here, too, an original Recaro (incorrectly restored) could be under it. means: to identify a repro 100% you usually need more points that you tap and experience. Hope I could help a bit.

    regards
