Silly question of the day, side mirror

I really miss not having a passenger side mirror on my 71', Without taking the one off my driver door is it a safe assumption that they are inter changeable?

Also, if anybody has added this mirror any guidance on correct placement.

    thank you.

The correct, 1971 large Durant mirrors are interchangeable and will fit both driver and passenger side. The passenger side mirror needs to be mounted several inches back from the driver side location to have visibility from the driver seat. Lots of discussion and photos in other threads.
