    1972 shift bracket

    Are there any differences between 1972 shift bracket and the earlier ones?
    I know that the 1972 shift bracket has a different parts under it, but I can't find the differences between them.

    Can anyone confirm?

    In this PET image the following call out numbers are unique to the one year only 1972 (901 style 915 shifter)

    #1, 3, 5, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20

    The remainder are the same as earlier 901 shifters.

    Thank you for your reply.
    Though the part # for the 72 shifter bracket is different from the others, all of the shifter including 72 look the same to me.
    Are there any differences among them? Can we use the 69-71 shifter bracket for the 72 ?

    No the main shifter housing (bracket) #5 is different internally to the earlier 901 shifters.

    The outside looks the same but the internal stamping is different due to the lower shift quadrant differences needed to accommodate the 915 shift pattern.

    I got it. I will look for the 1972 only shifter housing.

    Hello

    I am assembling the 1972 5speed shift bracket with original parts.
    Could you tell me how #18 (stop) on the previous pet image works in the bracket?
    Should I put #20(roll pin) outside or inside the bracket? Some pictures will be appreciated.

    The image will really help me with assembling the shift.
    According to the image, #18(stop) does not seem to move horizontally in spite of two small springs, which is right?

    I think #18 was designed to rock or pivot in #14. I don't have a '72 lever assembly here to check.
    Put the two pieces together and see if that's true.

    Yes, it's the rocker arm resistance for 5th/reverse.
