Anyone know what the story is on this wheel says it has the plastic light weight butterfly horn pad.

No I don't know the story but IF it is plastic it is rare as for one thing they usually broke ! (Didn't YOU have one of these at one time?) Anyway..from the back looks very similar to the metal one. Here are some pix from Franz a while back. From what I know the part number was the same. Notice the weight difference isn't much, 400 grams...14 oz.. go faster !! ! Thanks.

Hey look, a “bow tie” horn button. Fancy that. So, the horn push is worth 9k?

You can find the plastic horn push between 1500-2500 Euro, if you are lucky for less...The wheel is probably more rare. I am not sure if this combination was common in the day, maybe the thicker grip wheel with the early round horn button as used on the RSR.

I agree. I'm not sure but I think the plastic horn button was an "RS invention" for yes the homologation cars. I wonder if after ALL the "lightweights" later got it too?..I think that info is on the second edition RS book but I don't have it here in Austin with me. Thanks.

The plastic horn butterfly has it's own part number. I will follow up with photos.
The micro fish is ass backwards. 901 is plastic for RS, 911 is for series production. Here is the back of my plastic butterfly. And yes, you can see mine has been repaired on the backside.
.
The number embossed on the back of the both versions of the hornpad (as opposed to the part no) is the same :
901 613 805 0
