    Question Anti-ethanol fuel additive for CARBS?

    My 72 T has a 77 911S engine running 40IDAs. Here in PA, we have winter gas with more ethanol than the rest of the year.
    I was wondering if there is a good fuel additive to counteract the effects of ethanol and keep the carbs clean?
    I’ve seen threads talking about additives for MFI cars.

    Serge, have you tried STA-BIL 360? (edit: I've been using STA-BIL 360 in my own Zenith-carbed car in the same environment as you.) Have also heard good things about K100 when it comes to preventing phase separation.

    maybe look into Sea Foam been around since 1942. It says it will clean carb jets, stabilize fuels, and controls moisture in fuels

    Hello Serge,
    Another option, beyond fuel additives, would be to seek out "Non-ethanol" or "Ethanol Free" Premium fuel in your area.
    I run it in my daily driver, all my yard / lawn equip, boat and collector cars.
    A bit more expensive up front but considerably cheaper than rebuilding a set of Weber 40's and or fuel lines, in the long run ..............
    It is available if you seek it out.
    Or perhaps you have access to 100LL avgas ? ............... which is also "Ethanol Free" ........................

    Non Ethanol is the way to go. Put in all your power equipment as well. There is a app Pure Gas for your phone(can search on you computer as well) to find non ethanol when you are traveling or at home. For me when at home, I have a local station that carries 90 non ethanol for 3.99 a gallon. I also go to my local airport and get 100LL(low lead and they will only put in cans) Its 5 bucks a gallon and I add the 100LL to the 90 Octane when I need to get above 90 octane. I live in PA as well and pay the higher prices for gas like you due to our gas tax.

    My engine builder objects strongly to my adding anything to the premium unleaded pump gas I put in my '69, which in Colorado is 91 octane, E10. About six months ago or so I saw a review of about ten different fuel additives done by some chemist who concluded none of them really do much of anything useful.

    A bit of a sweeping generalization about fuel additives and their usefulness. The answer depends on many factors. They include things like local fuel quality and general engine design, for example. Various OEMs source and sell branded fuel additives for good reason. Just sayin’.
