Ignition box experts please chime in

When I bought my ‘66 911, it came with a Perma-Tune 6 pin ignition box dated 11-75. Clearly it is not original to the car. Should there have been a Bosch CDI box originally with the car or did they start using them later on. I would like to go back to original. Thanks

So I should be able to eliminate the Perma-Tune with no ill effects?

Yes and no,,,your car did not come with a CD ignition, but early cars sometimes had plug fouling problems depending how they were driven and/or tuned so different types of aftermarket or OEM CD ignitions were installed. Try yours first with the standard Kettering ignition and see how it goes. If you find that you do want a CD ignition I'd suggest just using a standard three pin Bosch CD ignition box with the appropriate black Bosch ignition coil.
