Given that SWT rust like mad, one could assume some filler.

Is there any chance you can show me what the floor sound deadening looks like?
Is it just 3mm thick tar mat or is it 10mm or thicker padding like the 1967 cars.
my car is 1186031 Targa L.
    thanks

Hopefully this provides a bit of inspiration. 68S softie with rust & collision damage & color change with missing trim, door panels, steering wheel, etc. What you see took over a year and a half...

That is what my car is. dec 1967 European 911L Targa.
I had guessed that the floors were 3mm tarmat. That is what i presumed you have found.
I there any chance that you may have some detailed pictures of the floor tarmat.
Bye the way my first Porsche was a 1954 coupe.
I am currently trying to find the material.
I am trying to build the car as it was originally built
    thank you for the reply

    Hello Bob,
I pulled a bit of the carpet up to answer your question. Underneath was a thin material that may or may not be original. Here is a photo for you. I hope this helps.

    thanks for the effort.
the rugs are reproduction, so the underlayment is obviously not the original as well. The underlayment from what i can see looks to clean to be original.
    Thanks, my search continues

You got its Bob, deductive reasoning. I am not surprised that this carpet and the the yellowish stuff is not original!
