Thanks! Dropping it off monday for new front pan and rockers. High quality shops are starting to open up for smaller jobs. Front pan and lateral tank supports purchased from Restoration Design. Very pleased with their products and superior customer service.

Is it just 3mm thick tar mat or is it 10mm or thicker padding like the 1967 cars.

    Hi Bob
I should be able to get you a photo under the carpets. My guess is that it is going to be a thin layer-stay tuned. Back in town next week.

Hopefully this provides a bit of inspiration. 68S softie with rust & collision damage & color change with missing trim, door panels, steering wheel, etc. What you see took over a year and a half...

That is what my car is. dec 1967 European 911L Targa.
I had guessed that the floors were 3mm tarmat. That is what i presumed you have found.
I there any chance that you may have some detailed pictures of the floor tarmat.
Bye the way my first Porsche was a 1954 coupe.
I am currently trying to find the material.
I am trying to build the car as it was originally built

    Hello Bob,
I pulled a bit of the carpet up to answer your question. Underneath was a thin material that may or may not be original. Here is a photo for you. I hope this helps.

    New front panned tank supports

After a short delay I dropped my car off with Danny at Gherman restoration. Danny has a small but very busy shop on the entrance to the scenic North cascades Highway, aptly described as the Switzerland of America. In addition to being a great guy, Danny and his team started taking the front apart within a half hour of my arrival. We had ordered the pan components from Restoration Design weeks before and timed the arrival with the shipment arriving.
What better way to bring the car in for new front pan and lateral tank supports than a scenic 35 mile drive into the mountains. Danny had another customer who has had his 1970 Irish green Coupe since he bought it in Germany from a fellow soldier. That soldier had only had it six months from new when he received his marching orders to leave the relative comfort of Southern Germany and ship off to Vietnam. The lucky recipient drove it all over Europe in the 70's before settling back in the US of A.
This great guy has had only one Porsche and is on his sixth decade with his baby. He offered me a ride back to the city. These are the kinds of people who make cars a lifestyle.

    thanks for the effort.
the rugs are reproduction, so the underlayment is obviously not the original as well. The underlayment from what i can see looks to clean to be original.
    Thanks, my search continues

You got its Bob, deductive reasoning. I am not surprised that this carpet and the the yellowish stuff is not original!
