    Gear selector rod/bar

Hi guys so i am picking through the parts of my restoration and i have come to the gear selector rod/bar that runs though the tunnel to the gear shift.

My question is can someone tell me what finish should be on the bar? Parts of the bar were rusty so i have wire wheeled it clean . As the bar runs through a
plastic guide i dont think it was painted. Was just left raw steel or should i get it plated . I want to keep it as original as possible .

    Many Thanks

    john

Just a steel finish Jonny. Rub a little wax on it.
