Thread: SWB Concours Dash?

    SWB Concours Dash?

No speaker holes, some kind of funky stitching, Napa leather? Don't think this will pass as "concours."

my dash is also not equipped with speaker holes.
Perhaps this is also the case with others. My Kardex also doesn't list antenna and radio.Name: IMG_20191005_132048.jpg

Your dash has likely been recovered.. even if no radio was listed, my understanding is the dash was perforated and the radio was an option installed either in factory or at dealerships

I am actually very sure that my dashboard has not been reupholstered. When disassembled, everything still looked very original. Even a "wooden" cover under the dashboard where the speaker should normally be was still in place.

And... I own a perfect example of how this can happen. I have a 3 owner 1967 911S with a 912 interior in it, and it looks perfectly aged to match the car. I spoke with the original owner who purchased the car at Vasek Polak. He didn't want a black interior, and wanted a tan interior. So, there was a 912 on the floor with a tan interior and to make the sale the interiors were changed (inlcluding the perlon carpet). Somewhere there existed a 912 with a full 911S black interior with all the aluminum trim, better carpets etc.

Your dash looks great though, and I personally wouldn't change it.

I'm not completely convinced yet :-)
Am curious about other opinions. haha :-p
But meanwhile reupholstered my dashboard. In real black leather. The rest of the interior has also been completely reupholstered.

I quickly started looking because I am not completely convinced. Could it be that for model 1965/66 there are not always speaker holes present. Mostly 3 gauges dashboards. Seems strong that the videos all have a dashboard that is not correct.

Well my early 65 - 3 gauges car came with what looked like an original dash, no perforated upholstery, but when I took it out, clearly it had been reupholstered at some point and I had a defunct speaker underneath.. just sayin'
Also, I would not take any of the youtube videos from BHCC or people trying to sell their cars as evidence that there is not perforation from the factory..

Not trying to convince you but the factory manual for the early 912 picture shows perforated dash (Manual X-65 so October 65, I would guess the picture would have been taken at least 2 months prior to prepare the owner's manual)

I have a 13K mile 67 radio delete car with the speaker perforations. Zero question as to originality of the dash so there's at least one example of a "no radio from the factory" and speaker holes.

Your new interior pieces look great.
