Hello folks
What tire size can i use on a 1972 coupe with these wheels. Do i need a spacer ? i donīt want to widen the wheelarch.
Thank you for the help
These wheels needs a 21mm spacer and the tyre should be 185/70R15 with tubes. They fit to the standard wheelarches.
I ran 4 R7’s on both a 914-6 and a 73 911 with +10mm studs and 7mm spacers with 205/60 tires.
On a 914/6 you have to do some minor modifications with the 21mm spacer, but on a 911 it will fit. For sure you have to use longer studs. With the 21mm spacer the wheel will run in the same position as the "modern" 7x15. If you donīt use a spacer, the tire will collide with the strut (front axle) or some parts of the suspension at the rear. Iam not sure, that 7mm are enough to avoide that.
7R will fit for sure; The problem is not the rim or spacer, depends on the tire mounted. Original was 215 ; But the Avon will fit, the Pirelli CN36 not, without rolling fenders and/or extreme (negative) camber.

I run 7R with 185/70 Dunlop Sport Classic and 7mm spacers in the rear on my 67 912. 10mm spacer would also work I think.

question would be more: innertube or not?

I run 185/70s on my 7r's, with the 10mm spacer. No rub in back (185/70s rub on my oil cooler protection place on 6r's in front at extreme angles). You can run wider tires in back without rolling the fender, but they will be shorter sidewalls and not be "period correct." No inner tube on mine either. The sprint classic tires are fine for street use, but will be swapped out for CN36s as soon as I can justify the expense of swapping out tires. Lots-o-threads on here about mounting 7r's and tire choices for them. Sorry, still can't figure out how to flip this photo, but these are 7r's as I run them (and have auto crossed and DE'd them).
