    Two RSs . . .

    . . . same VIN? . . .

    . . . 9113600856

    . . . = same car --- before + after

    . . . when it was green, @2Shores . . .
'. . . Original Touring car with complete history. Delivered new in Germany, it sold in 1978 to the second German owner, who stored the car until 1985 without driving it. 1989 sold to the US to the third owner and 1993 to its 4th and current owner.

Only 7000 miles on a complete engine rebuilt (2.9l).
This is a numbers matching and nicely documented Carrera RS. Rare sunroof and el. windows per Kardex! New Irish-green paint in 1994 (original color yellow) on pristine rust-and accident-free body.

The current owner slightly modified the car to his personal preference with a roll bar, sport seats, sport steering wheel and lightweight door panels.
The car is set up for light sport events, but was never used as such after the restoration. All modifications are easily returned to stock configuration
    . . .'

"With so many fakes and questionable cars flooding the market, documentation is the most important feature for a Carrera RS! This RS has been extensively documented with only 4 owners from new."

He took it in part exchange for a Carrera 3.0 and stored the car until 1985 in a dry garage. At that time the car had only 58,640km (36,437 miles.) It was taken out of storage and completely mechanically and cosmetically restored. In August of 1988 it was appraised in Germany as being in as-new condition.

Sometime between that appraisal and August of 1989 the RS would come to the United States. The next owner of record is James Ladwig of Melrose, Illinois, with maintenance records dating from August 1989 to September 1993. The RS would move into the care of Jeffery Proval, of Chicago, Illinois in October of 1993. Proval would own 0856 for the next 18 years, and, as evidence by a slew of maintenance records, took excellent care of the RS.

In 2011 the RS was acquired by Mark Lunenburg of Farmington, CT and was immediately put in for a complete concours restoration. The two-year process was completed by Jim Newton’s Automobile Associates of Connecticut. The extensive receipts show that every element of the car, both mechanical and cosmetic, was immaculately and correctly restored. Returned to its factory-original Signal Yellow paint the car presents exactly as it did in April of 1973.

All this exceptional work was rewarded with a “Best in Class” win and a “Grand Award” at the 2016 Concours d’Elegance of Texas. For the next 4 years, the car was preserved in a private collection, where it only accumulated a total of 60km before arriving to Canepa.

Since arriving at Canepa the Carrera RS was immediately placed into the “Canepa Difference” process, first going through service and reconditioning. Once completed, Canepa’s in-house detailing department delivered one of Canepa’s signature concours-level details. The underside was cleaned to a show quality standard. The exterior was hand washed, carefully polished and waxed. The interior, engine and trunk were treated to an equal level of cleaning, ensuring nothing was left untouched

I think the ads are for the same car. if you look at the Canepa photos there is one with restoration receipts and photos - it looks like the green car being stripped in the photos. The described histories are also partially overlapping. The Canepa description also adds that color was returned to yellow, but doesn't say what it was being changed from (which really wouldn't normally matter).

    Think you're right

That green car looks familiar --- pics are from several years, ago, maybe?

Also --- those engine stamps look identical . . . font, spacing, even orientation

Look closely at the VIN tags. See all the dents and scratches around the edges, they match up exactly, same tag.

Pictures of 0856 in green were from 2010. It has been restored during the period 2011-2013. Sold by Canepa in 2016.

the stamped chassis numbers look far too neat to be factory stampings ???
when you pay half the national debt for an RS then everything should be 100% +
    buyer be aware ?

    cheers

1970 914-6 - materialised from the 'Lotto' garage into reality
    1971 2.2 911 S - now back in the UK - sob!
1975 Carrera Targa (ROW) - missed.

Exactly Don. These photos are of the same RS. My friend Jurgen was the broker back in 2010. I looked this one over really well back then. Those photos were taken in our good friend's driveway. Many, many cool old cars have sat in that driveway over the years.
