Has anyone successfully repainted the trim edge of the black edge lenses?

I looked into doing that on the original lenses on my former '84 Carrera. After looking into it and practicing on a cracked lens, I think you'd need to strip all of the existing black off the inside, and polish the entire area to a nice, even sheen before masking and painting. Pretty tough to get done right, given that more correct options do exist.

In the end, since I wasn't interested in strict originality on the '84, I masked the outside and used SEM satin trim black. Looked fine, even if not correct.

Seems like SEM satin black works well in just about every application.

@Sanders - Sorry to go off-topic but you're getting some great bumps!

Yes. I used a citrus paint stripper. It took a while but eventually all the old black paint came off. I used a satin black and free hand painted the groove, there is a natural demarcation at the inner part of the groove: a ridge. I found it easier to not tape and just bring the paint to the top of the ridge. If I went over the ridge which happened a couple of times I just cleaned up the mistake with a thin towel wrapped around a small screwdriver tip. Very Easy. To get the paint off was the hard part. Painting took about five minutes per lens. The fronts were more difficult than the rears. Mine are the original Italian lenses and I swear they looked hand painted from new; the line was not perfect so I did the above. They came out really nice.
