    Help with 1971 911S D-Series production info

    Hello Group,

Can anyone help provide some direction on info or resources to answer the following:

Of the 10,234 1971 911’s made (thru August, 1971) 1,430 were S Coupes and 788 were Targas. Out of the 1,430 S Coupes:

What was the number breakdown by exterior colors and how many were Gemini Blue Metallic?

How many S Coupes came with sunroof option?

How many S Coupes were designated for the US market in 1971?

How many were left hand drive / RHD?

Thanks very much in advance and Best Regards,

    David

Without having a brother in law at the Archives who would research this for you, I think the closest you will get is what was published for MY70 in a period Christophorus article, shown below:

First of all, your production numbers are not correct. The first ten of every series were reserved for non-production use; that knocks 70 units off the total. Then, 1971 was a unique year, and for some inexplicable reason there were 236 911S Coupé that were not built mid-year. The total production for 1971 was actually 11928; or so I understand.
Second, the factory never provided breakdowns for paint color, driver side, sunroof or market that you are asking. Research to find the answers would be expensive, and the factory is not interested in helping out.
