I've had a 911 with and without. I rarely used it in the '84, but I did have working (properly enhanced) A/C. And I've had too much fun on other cars (including a 944) repairing non-working sunroofs. So I'm totally fine with no sunroof in my '72, haven't missed it so far. (And I don't even have the A/C working in this car yet.)

On the other hand, a sunroof wouldn't stop me from buying a car that I liked, either.

Sunroofs are a great compromise between a coupe and a targa. As long as you are not over 6ft 2in and the sunroof functions and seals properly, they are nice to have.

I can second that. At 6'4" it literally gave me a headache from constantly hitting the sunroof frame that was conveniently located exactly above my head. I think a driver's side sport seat could have potentially fixed the issue, instead i 'downgraded' to a SWT. Plenty of headroom there. Not for canyon carving anyway, not enough canyons around here and the weather just calls for a targa here.

The only thing as useless as a sunroof in a 911 is maybe fog lights! And radios and rear seats and....... but sunroof is number one. I'm doing a re skin on 3 right now. Bring on the debate! Haha

Such a tempting project. But the engine needs a total rebuild and parts appear to be missing; Unless that pair of oval USPS cartons are the carb's, the engine rebuild will also require at least $3k for a good set of used carbs. No mention of the the transmission, but based upon the rest of the car it will most likely also require a refresh. The car has been sitting so long you can add brakes, suspension, and fuel system to the list of things that will require refurbishment.
Body wise, the hood has been repainted a darker shade of green, and there are rust bubbles surfacing in all 4 corners of the car that need to be addressed. So a full repaint is also needed. Then there are the interior, seats, carpet, door pockets, dashboard which also need to be restored.
Yes, the car is all there, and the leaf green color, sport seats and sunroof are nice options. But the car needs almost everything.
The next owner should expect to be into this car for over $100k at the current ask price and a year or two before this beauty shines and performs like the factory intended it.

HAHA... no debate... to each his own - the beauty of this hobby... potentially the more sunroof cars that get re-skinned, the less and more rare original sunroof cars become!
