WTB: 1971 911T Front Horn Grills

    Hi Everyone:

I am in the process of restoring my 1971 911T and need to replace my heavily pitted front chrome horn grills.
Does anyone have a pair horn grills in very good to excellent condition for sale?

    Best,
    RG

I've got a couple pair of cores for restoration, but none that are ready to use as-is.

Thanks Arne for the response, however I am looking for a pair of grills which have no pitting.

    Best,
    Ravi

For what its worth. Due to the material and amount of pitting in most original horn grills they are almost impossible to restore properly and a good quality original set is very hard to find. I purchased the aftermarket chrome ones from Sierra madre and they were very good.

What are the visual differences (if any) between SMs and originals?

Yup, I expected as much, Ravi. That's why I have so many left overs...

None that I know of. Just that they are not brass.

I don't think any of my original 2-screw LWB are brass either. Probably zinc pot metal.

Ah yes. Zinc cast which explains why they are so difficult to restore.

Eric, what $ amount of pre-committed purchases would incentivize you to do another batch of your better-than-OE standard grilles?
