Great job so far. What is your HP goal on the engine?

The current engine makes approx 220 HP.
I have a 67S fresh engine on the shelf. Its a 2.2 street engine. It's fully complete, but what the hell. Hi comp pistons, twin heads, ge80 cams, light weight rods etc etc. Should be a little more stout. I'll take the current engine and use it in my 914-6.
Win win!

Rumor has it the doors, hood etc are arriving tomorrow. I'll get some weights up ASAP.
In the meantime I laid down the satin black paint and will clear coat in a couple days.Pictures show the paint still wet so it looks a little uneven but will dry a consistent color. Car goes into the booth next week for exterior. First race is in 6 weeks!

Replaced the engine crossbar mount with a RSR style mount. Not an easy job with the engine still in the car.
With the engine supported you can remove it. The hard part is getting the bar out! The trick is to drop the engine slightly and push the engine tin down a fraction. From there you can push the mount through and pull the opposite side up and out.
Anyways not sure that made much sense above. To be honest it's not worth the weight loss. 3.0 lbs vs 2.8 lbs.
I thought it would be at least 1lbs difference.

Well the doors hood and deck arrived today!
I put them all on the scales and there are some significant drops. I had estimated a touch more but the final result will be the scales.
Reason being is I really have no idea what the undercoat stripping yeilded.
Here are the results.
All parts are American Racing International
Hood Steel 35.8 lbs vs FG 14.8 lbs 21lbs saved total weight 1886 lbs
Doors , I will subtracted the hinges and handles and stiker latch. est 3lbs total.
Steel doors 62lbs 2 doors combined (no window frames or window regs) FG doors 25lbs for two doors combined 37 lbs saved + 3lbs total for handles etc. 34lbs saved 1852 lbs total
Last the deck lid. Sent a non 65-68 deck steel deck 12 lbs vs FG 6.5 lbs ( I will trim the latch panel in the deck to remove a bit more weight as its got dog bones to mount. 5.5lbs saved total 1846.5 lbs
Now at 1846 lbs (estimated) with a few more small changes to come.

I'm curious to see how the fiberglass pieces fit over the original steel versions.

I suppose you will paint the fiberglass panels, so it will add a little bit of weight back on..
