Again I'm basing this on my correspondence with the selling agent and materials they made available. But yes it was a standard S, delivered as a road car new. The next owner (an Italian doctor - Dr Mario Dalio) also purchased one of the factory 911R chassis (11899002R) which had been used as the spare parts car for the Monza speed record and was later damaged and repaired. He incidentally also ordered a 906 from the factory so seems to have had a good relationship with Porsche in the late 1960s.

This S reportedly was purchased used sometime late 1968 and sent to the factory to be retrofitted with the sport kit and R body panels, to be available to race before the 911R was repaired and delivered to Dalio. The S was then put back into it's original road configuration with steel panels, etc and used as Dalio's regular road car before later being sold as a road car. But the current owner purchased both this car and 911R 002 and restored the S back to it's "raced" configuration with R panels. So not originally built new as a factory sports purpose S, but appears to have been converted by the factory for a client essentially as a sport kit S with R body panels.

I found it being stored for probably 25 to 30 years. It had r parts on the car when found. R rear deck lid with Porsche factory writing on it. Tach and the rear fender with the factory made hole for the oil tank. You could see where the plumbing ect was for the r engine before they removed and replaced with the numbers matching s engine when his R was delivered. Still the only car i have seen with the rear "r" oil hole installed at factory ? did the other sport kits have the r hole in the rear quarter panel ?
