Frunk carpet late '65 built cars

I am wondering if anybody out there has some good data points on the frunk carpet used on late '65 built cars (adjustable struts and later washer reservoir location) did these cars come with the earlier style carpet with the coco backing or the later style thin needle felt?

Does the middle piece have the backing?

Did some further searching in the archives and found this comment by Richard (Pre-s) "My new car is a June 66 / 911 which has been parked since 86. When I checked the carpet earlier today, I noticed that the trunk is square weave as shown, however the compartment is not. It's more black hairy"

Looks like the square wave up front was used well into '66. Curious is how many versions there were. Here is my current thinking.

Version 1: side piece cut for early washer bag, non adjustable strut towers
Version 2: side piece not cut, later washer bottle location, non adjustable strut towers
Version 3: side piece not cut, later washer bottle location, adjustable strut towers

Version 2 might be not existing, if the introduction of the adjustable strut tower was at the same time introduced as the later washer bottle location.

Version 3 I am pretty sure my 912 has as well.

One thing that is different on my 912 to the picture above is that it attaches w leather straps.

Btw the “hairy” stuff is velour (which was different than what my 65 had).

Thanks Richard, you think the change to the front mounted reservoir and the shock towers coincided? Does anybody have a good data point on the change on the towers? The parts book puts the change for the bag around 302965 so I would think ~October '65?

Yes on both is my guess. The “answer” might be in the long thread about early changes.
Btw 302965 is in line w mine 912 from October 65 which has the later bottle and adjustable shock towers.

So far I have gone through about 20 pages of it with no luck. Isn't there an excel out there the keeps a tally of the major changes?

Still would love to hear from members who have original frunk carpet. Especially those with a late '65 build date
