Value of 6:32 901 Ring and Pinion?

I have a 6:32 ring and pinion set that came out of a 4 speed 901 hillclimb gearbox. The ring has a 906 part #: 906 332 251 10. The pinion has a date of 6/70 on it. Any idea what the original application(s) was for this and what it might be worth?

    Thanks

I think you answered your own question, it was for hill climbing. I understand some 912's to the S.F. area may have them to assist with the hilly area.

Hi Ed, thank you. Any value to this R&P? Some people have told me that this was a "sports purpose" R&P. This gearbox was built for my Dad back in the day by Ralph Meaney (a competitor).

Well it would have lowered all the gear ratios overall and might have been a good box for typical SCCA circuit racing, however I don't think the pinion was known to be long lived due to its small diameter tooth count. Remember it was originally meant for short duration hillclimbs. I'd have no idea of its value nowadays, I think the gearing is done via individual gear sets now using the stronger seven toothed pinion.

Not a very strong gear, mostly 912 use. Here is one installed in a 914, recently replaced with the original 7:31 out of the car. Gear purchased from Stoddard decades ago, here is the original box for the 6:32.

Does the ring have a 906 part number? Also, what is the date stamp on the pinion?

    Thanks

Gordon, that was a 6/29 not a 6/32... if that matters for the pinion gear itself. (assume that must mean 6 "legs" on the pinion and 29 or 32 on the ring)
