    Valve Relief Pockets

I am rebuilding a 2.4 L for a stock 73.5 T and had to have custom pistons made. Went with an off the shelf Morittz design 85mm for my CIS. Do the exhaust reliefs look oddly off center? Thanks Name: 848C6588-09B9-4CFB-A400-F6BE5BAD07D1.jpg

I think that is the characteristic of Moritz pistons,,,,like that is their attempt at recreating the offset dome of the original pistons. Do a search for "Moritz pistons" and I think you'll find more pictures of that style. Do a clay check trial assembly so you can see what the valve imprint is in the pockets.

Thanks Ed! I feel better. Newbs have unlimited ways of generating paranoia. I had wondered if other engines somehow had the exhaust valve offset to the side. Good to know it’s all just part of the swoop dome.
