    70S Crank Fire or Not?

    The distributor on my pastel blue 70S is tired and at the point of needing to be rebuilt. I looked for almost a decade for this car, then spent two years having it restored and have since driven the s**t out of it and enjoyed every minute. Motor is mostly stock with Carrillo rods and SSIs. Overall it is a moderate hot rod with a few trick bits here and there. I would sell my house before I sold this car. Now the question is do I just rebuild the distributor or go with a Clewett crank fire system and mount in a 100% reversible way? I am doing a Clewett system on my 66 and the "cleanliness" of the instal and drivability is a huge plus. Thoughts?

    I would rebuild the distributor and upgrade it with an electronic contactless ignition. So, you can use the HKZ, which is good for a classical 911. The system safe and perfect for normal use….

    Personal I don’t like the Clewett system with their look, even when their performance is good. For me the system it’s a little bit to “clean” for a vintage Porsche.

    I have used the Electromotive crankfire for about 30 years on my 1970S. Total reliability and never had to touch it once installed.
