    Help with value - 1972 911T Coupe barn find

    Hi,
    I have owned this 1972 911T Coupe since 2009. Prior to that the car was stored for 20+ years in a barn in CA. The car is 95% complete but does need restoration, and it does have a clear CA title.. I believe it has the original 2.4L MFI motor (I have not done a COA), but was originally a sportomatic which had been swapped out for 915 5-speed. I had the front pan and lateral supports professionally replaced back in 2011 and the car has sat in my shop since. The car is very straight and rust free. I am considering selling as I'm not sure when/if I will ever get to the restoration.

    If I were to sell, what would be a fair value to list it at?

    since Frank Beck has been out of the picture, the demand for sepia cars has dropped dramatically....but the fact that it used to be a sportomatic would have sent him spinning out of control.

    Maybe you should call his shop, he'd likely pay more than anyone else for this one.

    I'm thinking $45k might be a bit high. I bought my '72T project a bit over 2 years ago. I paid $37.5k. Like yours, original motor (no CoA but confirmed by the Service booklet), and the front pan, tank supports and rear seat pans had all been replaced, so no remaining rust. But mine also had a completely rebuilt motor (split cases, new Mahle P&Cs, etc.) and a refreshed 5 speed (synchros and sliders).

    I will concede that values were a bit softer when I bought mine, prices seem to be a bit stronger again now. But the engine having sat this long and no history means that there is a fair chance that significant expense may be needed to get it back on the road. I think that today for what you have described, I'd be thinking $35k or so, maybe $40k tops.

    And FWIW, if I didn't already have mine, I'd be seriously temped by yours at $35k or so.

    Seems like a BaT auction would be an easy way to find out...

    I'd bet that BaT won't take it unless it was no reserve, which always seems risky.

    I sold these two last year, both 69E's, the blue one sold for $19,000, the pinkish one sold for $23,000, to give you an idea where the market is for lWB projects.
