    Transmission date stamp query

I have a ‘66 which according to the Kardex was built on March 25, 1966. It is all numbers matching and was a one owner car. It has not been run in 30 years and so I have removed the engine and transmission hoping a truckload of cash is all it was needing. After cleaning up the transmission I noticed the date code is 7/66. The car was purchased on Dec 31, 1966. It is a Weber equipped car. Curious as to why the transmission is dated much later than the build date?

I think the transmission date stamps are week/year rather than month/year so week 7 of 1966 i.e. February.....I am sure someone with far better 65/66 knowledge than me will be along to confirm.....or show that I am talking total rubbish!

That would be an easy explanation. Thanks for the quick response.

That's correct my original to my November 65 car 902 transmission is stamped 38/65, so 38th week

For your car week 7 is the week of February 14 to February 20 1966
