'. . . completed in January of 1973 and delivered one month later. It was delivered new at the Porsche Factory on a Tourist Delivery program to Ervin William Barnes of 2909 Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado. The actual original order for the car was processed through SG Auto Porsche Importaciones Espanola S.A, the official Porsche distributor for Spain.

The order specified a USA / North American Market Specification vehicle with the exterior and interior in black. The only options were for a raised driver's side seat and chrome wheel trim arches.

I am doing some further research on Mr. Barnes, but it appears he may have been a Colonel in the US Air Force stationed in Rota, Spain and likely purchased this Porsche while stationed there, taking delivery at the Porsche Factory on February 12th, 1973 while on leave. This date also matches the Porsche Factory's invoice date and warranty card date as well.

Col. Barnes had the car given its first service at the Porsche Factory on December 15th, 1973. The recorded mileage at the time of the sale was 515 miles.

The next recorded details of the car are registration in Colorado Springs where it remained with Col. Barnes until he moved to Incline Village, Nevada in the mid-1980s.

The car was still with Col. Barnes after twenty years of uninterrupted ownership in 1993, but appears to have been stored from the mid-1990s on.

Almost nothing is known of the car until a few years ago when it passed through the hands of several dealers and auctions. The engine had even but low compression on all cylinders and after our purchase, we had the car delivered to Wayne Baker's Personalized Autohaus in San Diego for a complete engine and gearbox out rebuild without consideration for time and expense. The suspension, brakes and electrical system were all also gone through completely at the same time.

This magnificent, late 911S is now ready for her next fortunate custodian. This all matching number Porsche is sold with perfect original, never used tools as well as the original books, manuals, warranty card and extensive service record
