Excessive oil in value cover 71 911t

I noticed an oil leak from my right valve cover and when I opened it lots of oil came out, maybe 2 qts! I’ve ALWAY had some oil come out but never this much? The car has been sitting around a week. Is something wrong? Thanks!

Might check the level in the oil tank. Sounds like drain back into the crankcase while sitting. Got high enough to migrate up the tubes to the heads..

Thanks! I had just changed the oil a few weeks ago and used the specified amount. Is drain back like this normal?

Hi, It is normal so much so that there is a drain back valve made to combat this.

If you used the specified amount, perhaps you didn’t drain all the old oil out ?
