    67 Glove Box Removal

I need to replace the glovebox on a 67 912. The PO hacked the back out of the glove box to install a radio. Do I need to remove the knee pad in order to let the glove box door open downward to access the screw on the glove box strap? Or is there some other way to do it? Shop manual provides no help.

    TIA for any assistance.

this video from mike's restorations helped me. Skip to around 24:40. You don't need to remove the knee pad.

Thanks Eric. I looked at the video and around 24.20 he has the glove box open far enough that the screw holding the strap around the glove box can be accessed. But the knee pad is not installed. From what I can see the only way that the glove box door can open far enough to access the glove box strap screw is with the knee pad removed. Or am I missing something?

On my 67 912 I was able to access the screw with the glove box door open. I either used a long skinny screw driver, a crows foot screw driver, or a philips head bit held by some vice-grips. It's been awhile. My screw is a philips head, so someone may have been in there before. I would hate for you to take off the knee pad. I have broken studs when taking off other knee pads in the past.
