Help!! Early 2.0lt cast iron IMS cover or alternative?

    Hi,

I find myself at a standstill with the engine rebuild of my original 2.0lt sand cast case. The PO did not provide the intermediate shaft cover for the case. This is an early case (1965 Oct/Nov) and has a cast iron cover (901.105.141.02). Is the only option to complete this assembly finding an original cover? Has anyone had any luck making or having a machine shop make a replacement from steel. I expect I can not be the first person to be in this position. What have others done?

I have posted a request to buy this part on this board and on the bird, as of now no luck. I have tried several of the dismantlers and parts depots with no luck. The collective knowledge and experience on this board must have solved this dilemma before now.

    Thanks

You can make a steel plate that does the job but of course won’t show as original unless you spend a lot?

    Thanks everyone,

Fred Aapgar on the bird has offered to "send" me 1 for free... Once again I am blown away by the people on these forums and in this Porsche community. I only hope I have an opportunity to help some one else out as Fred has helped me....pay it forward!
