ITG Megaflow Velocity Stack Air Filter(s)

The microswitch arm on the throttle linkage of my 1969 911S MFI prevents an elegant installation of K&N style open air cleaners.

If I had a spare arm I'd cut it to fit and skip the microswitch (I ran without one for years)- but the arm is adjustable so it would be tedious to get the banks synchronized after swapping back and forth.

I had a nice pair of very lightweight K&Ns when I was running Webers and I loved the sound (most of the time).
Modulating the roar with the throttle was an upside when getting into and out of the neighborhood.

I also like showing off the engine without that (ugly?) metal 5 lb. air cleaner can on top. What a difference!
It also makes keeping the engine clean and watching for leaks so easy without removing the can and its hoses.
I have a simple homemade breather for the Webers and blow-by oil mess has never been a problem.

I could leave the bottom stock housings installed on the throttle body stacks and swapping the can and sox back and forth would take only a few minutes.

These itg Brand 'sox' would be an easy swap for occasions where I'd like a little more intake sound from those lovely 'S' camshafts. At events my little MFI motor would shine without that big air filter can on top.
The sox would hide my gnarly plastic velocity stacks too.

They are pricy but I'm thinking of them.

1 Are they a fire hazard? My MFI does backfire rarely, so childish vanity isn't worth an engine fire.

1a Would a home made set of screens be a viable flame arrester? I'm thinking of mounting the screens under the throttle bodies (plastic) velocity stacks.

2 Do these sox tolerate gasoline and occasional methanol blended fuel? If they dissolve in a few hundred miles that is an expense that would be a deal-breaker.

3 How much difference in flow characteristics would there be affecting the MFI fuel/air mixture? Swapping and having to alter my seat-of-the-pants MFI mixture isn’t fun for me.

4 Has anyone had any experience with these 'sox'?

    Hey!
    Thanks for the Birthday Wishes.
