    cold start zenith carbs

    question for the experts...

My friend's bone stock 70T with Zenith 40TIN carbs takes FOREVER to start when cold. it just cranks cranks cranks until it finally sputters to life. usual cold start procedure (depress throttle a few times, no throttle or half throttle while starting makes no difference).

Once the engine runs and it is at operating temp, it fires right up, even after sitting for 30 minutes.

    I am officially confused....

My Zenith carb’d 2.2 starts easily warm or cold. If accelerator pumps check out I suggest putting a timing light on the car and checking the ignition before going crazy with carb adjustments. If ignition timing is correct then look to the carbs.
