Need your help, 1967S rear rotors rubbing on dust shield tabs???

    Hi

I dissasembled the rear suspension for cleaning, paint and new bushings. I also changed the rear studs which might play a factor as I had to pound them out and the rear bearing does move when this is done.
All looks pressed and secure (pics attached)

Long story short when I try to install the rear rotors they are rubbing on the dust shield tabs and the rotor does not want to seat all the way down on the hub?? Any insight would be great!

I only had the hub castel nut torqued down to 100lbs oppossed to the 220 lbs needed, would that play a factor? Does that possible pull the stub through and the hub out away from the assembly?
    I'm lost here!

Heres a pic pre disassembly. Looks like it was an issue before?
Is this a case of the caliper will center the rotor once enganged? I had the calipers off, so there
is alot of play in the pad area.

Yup, they are in. Maybe it's the wrong rotor? Anyone know the specs on the vented rear?

    Rear rotor 1967S

The wear spec for the rear rotor is in the little white Technical Specifications book.

There is a thread posted some years ago of slight mods to get the 944 rear rotor to be a fit for the (back then) super priced 1967S item.
With the mods it was a match for offset, rotor diameter and thickness.
    See Eric's posting here:
    https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...ight=944+rotor

    And a 2006 post here
    http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...-rotors-2.html

Is it possible someone used the 944 rotor and didn't trim to get the right diameter?

Or used a 1969> rear rotor cuz it was close?

Have a talk with Eric in Utah, he is the master for this stuff.

Hi Bob, thans for the info, very interesting and a great option. After reading through it I don't think the 944 rotor whould matter interms of "depth"
It seems like the hats are touch to deep so it rubs on the sheild. I just tried cutting the tabs off the shield and it still touches the brake mounting pint ever so slightly.

Its almost like the rotor needs a 2-3mm spacer on the hub.

I thought the same thing, I just went back and put a 5mm wheel spacer dirrectly on the hub and then the rotor.
It now sits perfectly. That 3-5mm gap seems to be what is needed but why is the question?

I also measured rotor dia and it is 285mm which is stock for a swb vented

Sure sounds like wrong rotor or you left something out of the hub assembly letting the hub go in too deep.
