Thread: numbers on doors from 911 1972

  1. #21
I can come to suppose that getting these numbers out into the general consciousness presents a problem, but I also hope that we help as many people. From these numbers, I think, several things can be drawn to conclusions if they turn out to be what I think they are.
In the supposed case that it was as I think... those cars never repainted must have a number on the door. If the car is not repainted and does not have the door number... You can think of two things, replacement or complete repainting. The good thing about this number is that it is located in a place that "is not usually painted" in the past? Or if they painted it completely?
In my case, in my car... The paint inside the vehicle was left intact...
then... If the number is not there. This theory can raise a bit of noise I guess... But as I said, theory......You can think further about these numbers...I guess.

Scott, regarding your dates, I understand that in the first publication, month 10 was an error? Thanks for the image! We ruled out that the choice of color in the pencils will determine the year.

data regarding this and the door... One of the threats that they sent me at the time from the national forum was that they had photos of the poorly repainted doors of our car. I understood that they thought that the black lines were made by some local craftsman in Tenerife.... Certainly, to this day, I can understand the perfection in the defect thanks to the fact that someone did not finish "the entire job"

    25...................
It is a way to verify the "original paint of the vehicle".... I think so.
According to my belief there has to be a list (I think I have never seen it) that links a VIN with the number of the door, (without it being a sequential list since the units would jump from color to color)... That , or Porsche only has records of the total and I never write down the painted unit number and VIN. Or yes... and I'll keep it for you. And if the Porsche keeps it... Who else could have kept it.....?
Does anyone have contact with a factory painter? ancient painter...
"Or not the VIN... Rather the dashboard knee number, it's when the dashboard was painted and signed, right?"

Coincidentally, the door previously shown also shows the number 25.
I would say that same place, same hand who wrote them.

According to my thinking, the number must be on the door opposite the driver. Whether the steering wheel is on one side or the other.
With this, if I'm right... you can guess if the door is from a vehicle for one market or another if it is in the original color... "European" market, the number located on the passenger door, "UK" market ", the number located on the passenger door. I think it is an interesting method for experts to point out if they didn't already know it.....
Therefore, looking at this photograph that you show (if the paint is original) I know that I am looking at the door of a car for the "European" market since this would be the door that the driver goes through. Correct?
