    ? on top of Webers 40IDS ?

    Greetings,

    I have 40 IDS and wonder what is screwed between the trumpets (see finger) - any idea ?

    I think those are just the little square topped screws, with washers, that hold the large black painted based on top of the castings.
    Nothing more.

    Thought the black painted based would be maintained by the trumpets. Fair enough tho.

    I believe those two screw holes are for the motorsports screens that you run in in place of the breather tubes when not running an air filter box.

    I agree with post #2. My US 1970 911T equipped with Zenith carburetors uses M4 x 10 cheesehead screws to attach the bases for the air cleaner housing. They are listed in the PET. They are unnecessary because the intake trumpets will hold them down.
