Tell me about ignition switches/ steering locks

Can someone tell me if 911.613.011.01 will fit a US spec 1973 S? Neither my original parts manual or my pdf of the PET show it. But in other places it appears that the current Porsche part supercedes it (964.347.917.01), which suggests it would work.

This is a steering lock with buzzer contacts setup.

    thanks!
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
I think it will work. The main difference between the old and superseded part is the black key insert. Please note however that the correct part for 73 is 911.613.011.05, I believe. It doesn’t have the buzzer contact.
    Kind regards

Thanks Gitesh. My car (a Feb 1973 build) definitely has the buzzer contact, as it should. This was a US requirement for any vehicle built after 1972, i.e. Jan '73 onwards. Side impact beams and bumper protectors became required at this point too.

But you are right about the black fascia where the key gets inserted. Mine is silver but every replacement I can find is black. Presumably I can just polish that out!

I'm being lazy. Don't want to take the dash apart to figure out what is in there.
