901/02 tranny serial# and designation stamping

inspected a 67S recently and noticed that the transmission designation# was stamped in different font than the serial#
on to the 67S tranny that i have in house both are stamped in the same font.

i`m curious what your 67S tranny stamping looks like...would be cool to see some pix
    thanks much

Wouldn't the SN be stamped at a different station to stay with the car? Seems plausible.

The numbers on my 915 and engine aren't perfect.

Oh, I received a 30 ban from Facebook for saying "tranny". LOL!!!

besides the different font... the stamping on the car in question look a bit to perfect...(top left and top right on the foto)

thats why i want to see the stamping of other 67S cars. but it`s more about if other cars also have two sorts of font on the bell.

This is not a 901/02 box but a very early airport gear set gearbox (901/52) from about mid 1967. I think that the fonts should be the same as a stock 901/02 one though.
The photos were posted on the bird in about 2013 and I kept them for reference on the "sondergetribes" so (unfortunately) it is not my gearbox

The font for the 901 should be barrel shaped, but the 104xxx does not look too bad. Also found one example that was 902/02, so obviously a typo.
Also, I note the font of the second half of the type # tends to be different than the first half.

Clearly, different ways to stamp type and serial numbers. My experience with 901 type numbers is (901/) is a gang stamp with (xx) added later, usually with a different font.

Fonts aside, the thing that stands out to me in the example given is that the rib on which the s/n is stamped has been sanded smooth. They always have those striations.

Is this wisdom equally true for replacement transmission cases?
