Nice day drive in the Colorado hill country

Martha and I went on a 225 mile 1/2 day drive. Started in Arvada (half way between Boulder and Golden) a NW suburb of Denver. We went north west to Estes Park, then over Trail Ridge Pass (12,000 ish feet) then down to Grand Lake for lunch. From there we drove past Winter Park ski area, then over Berthoud Pass (10,000 ish feet) to I70, to Golden and back to home. Martha and I need to do these drives more often.
Because of the fires out there somewhere the pictures are a little hazy.

That sounds like a great little loop Chris. Our son lives just outside of Arvada and we’ve always wanted to take a few days and drive the 911 down to see them. I’m sure we’d end up driving a few of those roads you just ran.

    Cheers.

    Bill,
There are some fun roads here. You should make the trip. Tell your son we are right where Kipling dead ends at Stanley Lake on the south side. I lived in Sun Valley 1975 to 1980 ish. I do miss Idaho!
Here are a couple pictures from the mid to late 70's. The circled house was mine at that time out Warm Springs. All those houses are covered by planted trees now. I paid $14,000 for the lot. The guy I bought it from paid $7000 one year earlier. Imagine finding a lot for $14,000, 200 yards from the base of a world class ski area today. Those were some mighty fine times.
The 2 silver 72 Porsche's are a T and a S, owned by a doctor who worked in the Sun Valley hospital.

Thanks Chris. It would certainly make a great spring or fall trip, that’s for sure. Wow those are some great old idaho pics. And love seeing mud flaps on old 911s. We’re up in Coeur d’Alene and have seen the same things. How times have changed.
