Well, I think I overlooked the most important check ... what is in the back of the picture. I have looked carefully and found some faint stamps on the kodak paper ... well ... this is what I got. I think this closes the discussions on the date.

That looks like a 9-68 to me. Discussion is back open

Could be my eyes but that looks more like 8 or 9-68 to me i.e. August/September 1968.......also remember whatever the date is on the rear of the print is only when the print was produced so photo could have been taken earlier.

Are these (green ring) from a 917 engine?

the one on the right is hardly readeable (I'd say 09/69, if this was the only one); the first one i have posted above is the one in the middle, here below the left one ... which looks to me 03/68 ...

Sept 68 would make sense with the LWB cars in the shop.

Great post. Hopefully more pictures will be posted
of the shop. Its like a trip back in time.

Great question, Stephen. That stud pattern and Porsche logo on the cover are unusual.
Doesn't appear to be flat 12 (Type 912) or flat 8 (Type 771 or 908).

Any chance these could be 911s being turned into race cars, or installing sports purpose bits, given the location of the work being done?

Believe I have one of those covers in my stash and was never able to match it to an engine. It has a 916 part number. Have posted a picture of it here on the board years back

    Correction, 918 number
