    901 transmission parts

    Hi all,

I am rebuilding my 911/01 transmission. Unfortunately my crown wheel and pinion is damaged. What is the best thing to do? I hope somebody has a good used set available? It’s a 911 trans with a 7:31 crown wheel and pinion set.

Or is it possible to repair such damage?

    Thank you for your help

Adriaan, that is not repairable, but fortunately a replacement set will not be hard to find.
They're available new, from Porsche, or a used set from a pre-72 911 (except Sportomatic), a 912 or any 914 is interchangeable.
However, you'll need a professional to install and set it up properly, or it will end up looking like the set you're replacing.

    Hi Jon,

Your comments are very much appreciated. And yes I will not do this myself otherwise the pinion will be damaged soon in the near future.

The part is available from porsche and oem ok that’s a start. I hope not too expensive…..

I am sorry it’s probably not much of a difference but the transmission is type 911/01 I will correct that in this post (I mentioned 901)

No problem with your correction. Pretty much any 901, 902, 911 or 914 transmission type could be a donor.

More than you ever wanted to know about gear failure analysis…

Glad you should be able to get a replacement fairly easily.

    Hi Adriaan

I have this very nice R&P taken from a clean 911/01 gearbox. I will email you more detailed photos and pricing.
